DMHSW's Website

Welcome. This website talks about me. Who I am, what I believe, what I do.

General facts/trivia

I was born in Pasadena, California on September 16th of 1999 and lived there until I was about 4/5.

My family moved to Lexington, Kentucky, where, at time of writing, I have lived ever since.

I am a computer programmer. I love computers.

I am a full-time Linux user. I use Debian.

I love retro computers and games- especially the 16 bit era consoles and computer systems.
My favorite retro game consoles are the Sega Tower-of-Power (GEN+32X+CD), Dreamcast, and Amiga.

I like old movies, cartoons, computers, and video games.

My favorite written work of fiction is likely "Waldo & Magic Inc" (R. A. Heinlein) or "Another Fine Myth" (R. Asprin)

My mood is highly correlated with the weather. I am happiest when it is sunny and cool- around 55-60F. I vastly prefer cold weather (notably, because it kills insects).

My favorite season is late Fall.

I am a very picky eater.

I don't like sports.

I walk around my neighborhood regularly. If you live in my neighborhood... Yeah I'm that guy who walks around in shorts in the middle of winter.

I tend to listen to video game soundtracks and tracker music. It's difficult to say which composers I like best, but Dubmood, Radix, Necros, and Skaven are all up there.

Inner/personal life

I live in my head

I live most of my life on autopilot. I don't give much thought for most of the things I do. I'm usually thinking about something else. Whether this is my greatest strength or a terrible blunder on my part is something I haven't discerned.

I don't do socialization

I am, more or less, completely inept when it comes to anything social. I'm extremely direct and very blunt. I'm not a party person. I enjoy having people to chat with, but finding people who are genuinely interesting is difficult, and finding someone who will go toe-to-toe with me in reasoning/discussion is even rarer.

I don't like myself

I am often in anguish over past decisions I've made, things I've done, etcetera. I double back on myself often. I often repent of (regret, forsake) things I've said shortly after I say them. Sometimes I manage to be strong enough to admit it, too.

I am extremely ideologically oriented

I have never understood why most people aren't. I am not apologetic about it.

I am, to some extent, misanthropic

Social hierarchies and social approval systems make me sick. Society makes me angry.

I've never had many friends.

There are many people who might call me their friend, but very few have been part of my inner circles.

Still fewer have ever been my intellectual fellows, with whom I enjoyed discourse.

Other errata:

I'm single. I have never been romantically involved but I have had my heart broken.

"Religion"

I am not a good Christian

I have been, and am, far too wicked to be called a "good Christian".

If I don't get forgiven... I stand no chance before God. I am guilty of so much wickedness in my life.

Furthermore, I believe I am not a good representative of Jesus Christ on Earth. I want to be, but I too-often let my emotions and my sinful flesh run away with me. Because of this, I have failed Christ many thousands, if not tens of thousands or millions, of times over.

When I read "A tree is known by its fruit" I internally shudder in fear. If I'm measured against that, I will fail. I've got some of the rottenest, most disgusting fruit I've ever tasted.

My transgressions against God are mighty. All disgusting. Most if not all in pure evil.

Despite that, I am reasonably confident I am a real Christian- because of pieces of evidence I have been given. I am often afraid that I will find out I was lying to myself, or wasn't really a Christian somehow. If you're an atheist reading this, you likely find this amusing or sad, but let me tell you, it's far more terrifying than you can imagine to know you deserve eternal damnation, and not only that, but that it is real.

Even more terrifyingly, it is the nature of sin to reject God. When I see the desires of my flesh, they prefer damnation and hell to the eternal life offered by God. Thus, I am not only condemned by my deeds, but my own desires. Truly, I am in "The Body of Death".

Is there a born-again Christian inside of me? Am I spiritually alive?

If I were to use "A tree is judged by its fruit" my answer would be no. I am wicked. I still do evil. My heart lusts after evil constantly, and I unfortunately give into it.

If I use what Christ himself said to me- "Yes, I know you!" then I am a real christian.

So that is what I believe- that I am a real, but terrible, Christian.

I'm a King James Only Christian

I believe that the King James Version, as translated into english in 1611 and then standardized across the centuries thereafter represents an unusual revelation to mankind. It's the preserved, perfectly translated word of God in English. The exact nature of this inspiration, as well as which specific variants of the KJV are "purest" is something I have yet to comprehend.

I was not raised a Christian

If you had asked me when I was younger, I would have told you I was, but I was an atheist. I didn't believe in God. We celebrated Christmas, and that's most of what I understood "Christian" to mean as a kid. My mother, a catholic, was forbidden by my father, an atheist, to ever teach me anything about Religion... perhaps for the better, given what I now know about Catholicism.

I know the God of the Bible exists because I've encountered him

I was converted after a series of rather spectacular miracles, including signs and visions happened to me. My initial belief was that I was schizophrenic. It had to be proven to me that I wasn't in order for me to really believe otherwise. I am, still, feeling the rippling awe of those events reverberate through my life... albeit with less awe than I had initially.

This is (at least partly) why I find it so offensive for atheists to accuse me of being "brainwashed" or "following the leader". The exact opposite is the case- I believed my teachers, who taught me evolution and atheism, until I saw miracles myself. I am an Eye witness of supernatural phenomena and the truth of the Christian Scriptures. If I have followed anyone into Christianity, it was the Apostles who wrote the New Testament, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who spoke words with power in times past.

I am extremely disdainful of people who tell lies about Christianity

If I see you tell a lie about Christianity or about Jesus Christ- I've noted it as a great evil you've committed.

I despise blasphemy

I don't like it when people speak irreverently about the one who died for my sins. It's a shameful act.

Some people would call me "religious"

I believe this is a misnomer. Any time a person is talking about truth/facts they are speaking about "religion". Why is it "religion" to talk about God, but not when we talk about evolution and millions of years? I view this as a source of deception. Atheists can use the word "religion" as an excuse to shut their brains off so they don't have to think.

I am anti-academic

I view academia as a religious institution. An extremely insidious, deceptive one. They teach a false history of the earth and origin of mankind which I was gullible enough to believe for 20 or so years. I'm still sore about it.

Politics

I do not believe democracy is working

I have, at times, even said I did not believe in democracy. I do not believe this correctly describes my position at the moment. I am now "unsure".

I believe in parts of socialism

The parts where we provide for the poor and needy, the parts where some businesses are nationalized, etcetera.

Communism, neither in theory nor in practice, is sound. Capitalism is almost right... but misses the mark in important ways. Communism is a faulty alternate proposal. I believe that the most important factor in economic success, prosperity, and happiness for a nation is its obedience to God.

I am apocalyptic about politics

I believe that the age we live in, with computers and advanced technology, is likely doomed to self-destruct. The scriptures speak of a time in the future when "purple" is a valuable good, and horses/chariots are used in war again. While certainly possible, it is difficult to imagine how this could ever be true in a world with computers, industrial manufacturing, and automobiles.

I have thus concluded that it is most likely that this civilization destroys itself sometime in the future- most likely by nuclear war.

I am skeptical about Global Warming

Given the eschatological prophecy of Tyre sinking beneath the waves of the Mediterranean Sea in Ezekiel 26, it is possible that Global Warming is real. However, we already know it isn't what destroys humanity. The Revelation of Jesus Christ to John will be fulfilled.

I don't like copyright

I can understand why it seems appealing- it provides an avenue for people to make money selling their work. However, it's unenforcable (How do you prove who created a work?) as well as unfounded in sound reasoning. If two people have the same idea in roughly the same time period, who gets the copyright? Why should anyone be allowed to dictate what you do with bytes on your hard drive?

I don't like patriotism

Specifically, any kind of expression of "pride for one's country". There's only one nation on earth for which this idea is at all "worthwhile"- Israel, and only by virtue of its divine origins and the physical manifestation of God in the physical person of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

I am, obviously, vehemently opposed to other religions

Islam appears to be some sort of scam invented by a 7th century false prophet.

Western Atheist Materialism is the hegemon of wicked deception worldwide.

Technical Opinions

Debian GNU/Linux is my favorite operating system

Historically slightly less stable than Windows for me (I tend to use HDMI audio through an Nvidia graphics card, audio seems to be a forever problem) but otherwise fantastic. Haven't encountered any malware built into the OS.

I recommend using Debian Stable.

I wrote a programming language- and it's my favorite

Seabass

A public domain, self-retargeting, self-extending, self-modifying metaprogramming language. Implemented in C99. More portable than C. Coolest thing my hands have ever made!

The language and bootstrap compiler are more-or-less complete, however more development on the language's standard library and tools is required, and I believe self-hosting should happen.

None of the work would be possible without the blessings of the Lord Jesus- which I do not deserve.

I hope for Seabass to eventually supersede and replace C/C++. It should be fully capable of it.

Favorite Programming languages

If I were to rank my favorite programming languages?

  1. Seabass. Comfy mutable syntax plus infinite portability.
  2. C. Specifically, I prefer C99 with GNU extensions (labels as values, notably)
  3. Javascript, when it behaves nicely.
  4. Lua, it's so comfy!
  5. BASIC. It feels nice.

Every programming language beyond that is something I don't like.

I'm a C supremacist

For better or for worse, C has become the universal assembly language.

Because of this, I believe that learning C is essential for all programmers.

No language I know of (save my own) comes close to being as portable and powerful a tool as C for systems programming.

C++ and Rust seem obtusely designed

Both are extremely ugly. Neither are intuitive. Extremely powerful languages seemingly designed for noone.

C++ is not a viable systems programming language

Exceptions, virtual methods... it all adds up to make a giant mess.

C++ destroys the simple beauty and pragmatism that C has. For all the powers it grants, none of it is worth that trade-off.

I prefer OpenGL to Vulkan

Vulkan may be faster, but at least it doesn't take hundreds of lines just to get a hello world triangle. Vulkan may more be usable with a wrapper.

I believe that Vulkan will never replace OpenGL. That said, it may be superseded by something which does.

RISC architectures are the future

And I don't specifically mean RISC-V/ARM. I mean RISC architectures in general.

I like small, but powerful computers

Powerful enough to do what I want with 'em. I like the Gamecube because you can carry it around. I like the nintendo DS/3DS too.

I like low resolutions

Pixelated graphics are fast AND stylish! I've got a longstanding soft spot for 480p.

I like floating window managers

If you don't know what that means, it means "windows like Windows(TM)".

They seem really cool to me.

I like systems programming

Became a computer programmer to write video games, stayed for systems programming.

Thoughts on Bible Prophesy

I think about Bible Prophesy alot

Documentation of the future by God himself to man. Who wouldn't be interested?

My position has changed over time

I used to believe that Joel 3:2 referred to the current situation in Israel with the land being divided between them and the palestinians, however I later realized this is actually mentioned explicitly as something the Antichrist does in the last days. Furthermore, I also used to buy into the "fig tree = israel" interpretation of Matthew 24. Needless to say, I've been wrong in the past, so don't count this website as a prophetic word or anything like that.

Babylon has never been completely uninhabited, and will return.

According to scripture, Babylon will be "As when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah" (Is 13:9). Never inhabited, neither dwelt in from generation to generation (Is 13:20). This has not occurred. This is Literal babylon in Iraq ("The beauty of the Chaldees' excellency", Is 13:19) and not Mystery Babylon.

The world we live in will be turned into an eternal hellscape.

This world and all the works in it will be burned up, the elements shall melt, etc as described in 2 Peter 3:10. However, this will not be an obliteration, but rather a transformation. Isaiah 34:9-10 dictates that there will be a place on earth which will be turned into burning pitch that shall not be quenched night or day. This can only be true if the earth we live on persists forever.

We may not know the day or the hour, but we can know the season.

Jesus commanded us to watch for his coming. He compared his coming to the blossoming of a fig tree. Clearly, there will be signs that the real end is near. The rapture will not be a surprise for those who are watching. Furthermore, I believe I can tell that it is not yet. Thus, I believe that Anyone who says the rapture is near has not properly studied the scriptures.

Technology regresses in the future.

In Revelation 18:12 and 18:16, Mystery Babylon is said to trade in and posess expensive goods such as fine linen, pearls, gold, silk, and "purple". If you know anything about dyes, this is obviously nonsense in the modern world. Purple dye is cheaply manufactured and not a valuable good. In Daniel 11:40 it is said that warfare is conducted "with chariots, and with horsemen" again. To my knowledge, this has not been true since the times of Alexander the Great.

Given the current state of affairs, it would seem that the current civilization (with advanced manufacturing, computers, automobiles, etc) ends somehow.

What causes the end of our civilization?

I am not sure. A nuclear war seems the most likely, but climate change may also do the trick. The "Sudden destruction" of 1 Thess 5:3 may be related. This matter is perhaps what provokes my curiosity the most, as it appears to be the next major geopolitical event needed for the fulfillment of scripture.
